If it were only the GB, then you could not hold Germany responsible for the Holocaust, but only those at the top, not the soldiers, not the guards and not those who voted the Nazis into power and kept them there.
Every JW knows, they don't really believe anyone is listening when they prey. They just believe everyone else DOES and conclude they must be right. Every one of them think "It is only me. Bother so-and-so must be righteous. He does not think like me."
And so they persist while no one dare say the emperor has no clothes. Ask yourself which of them would have helped stone you if you were an Israelite and had to be stoned fo working on the sabbath or disobeying your parents. Then you may identify those for which there is hope, but no excuse.

Governing Body and rank and file liabilities
by greendawn ini get the impression that generally the rank and file jws are to be thought of as victims whereas the governing body are the real and only villains in this organisation.
.
do you think this is a valid opinion especially when it comes to the elders and circuit/district overseers who willingly enforce the gb's often criminal policies?

Genesis 6:2 - The "sons of God"
by rocketman inwhile reading the niv study bible recently, i came across some interesting notes on genesis 6:1-4, concerning the situation before the flood in which the "sons of god saw the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.".
from what i had always understood (mainly by reading wts literature) these "sons of god" were angels that sinned by taking the daughters of men as sex partners.
however, the niv study bible, and some other bible commentators, mention that there were other possibilities:.

Narcosis - Are you postulating that after the upteenth number of translated versions of manuscripts that are no longer in existence, you are attaching credence and literary value to it? Historically it is inaccuarate, so what history are you proving?
One work of fiction, supposedly referencing, confirming or contradicting another work of fiction, and you are trying to make sense of it?
Are you conceding it is bullshit, but you are just curious about why the author, obviously not Moses, may have wanted to write what he/she did? Or are you silent on that score, so that those still anchored in mysticism will be stimulated and respond?
The modern day equivalent to your debate:
Do you think the author of Little Red Riding Hood, when talking about the wolf that confronted Little Red Riding Hood, could have been talking about one of the wolves saved by Kevin Costner in Dancing with Wolves? -

Narcosis - Alice in Wonderland has history too. How much debate is required to explore the author's meaning of each expression and how else/better it could have been stated?
Personally, I would prefer the questioner to have said: "I know this is all bulshit, but lets imagine its not and then debate it." -

Jealousy.
I submit that the source of jealousy is a fear of loss. Generally in life, I fear very little anyway, even death. I hardly ever feel jealousy and when I do feel it, I do not ask what Gabie is doing wrong, but what I am doing wrong. Have I been neglecting her? Have I not rendered value? Have I been pre-occupied with something else and not been as attentive as I should? Have I not demonstrated and articlated my love? If the answer is yes to any of that and a few more question, I will correct it and feel jealous no longer. It is a reminder to me to treasure my love.
If however the answer is no, recognizing that I do not profess to be all things to her, then I will ponder whether there is something Gabie needs that I am incapable of providing, and if I am, I will not browbeat myself that I can't, but merely help her get her need or want filled.
I maintain that your prime moral obligation in life is to ensure your own happiness. Do not live for the sake of another, nor require any to live for the sake of yours. Life is not a dress rehearsal. So if I am not the one that will be the best for Gabie in her life, she owes it to herself to pursue the highest value. I do not own her and she owes me nothing, other than the value we exchange. I may be sad for the loss, but not jealous that she is improving the quality of her life. Naturally I always strive to be the best to and for her and and always, always give it my all and know she knows that, and am very confident she has no reason to go elsewhere.
The problem lies not in that you experience the emotion, but what you do with it. -

UN and Mat 24:15 and 16
by JGraves inhey everyone, i'm living in st kitt's and recently got disfellowshipped and also asked to be withdrawn as a member of the watchtower bible and tract society.
as all witnesses know, this is a serious and often challenging thing to do, to stand up for your faith and belief that jehovahs people and organisation need to be clean.. i've made that stand, i've made it clear to the missionary elder here; "my concience will not allow me to associate with an organisation that was affiliated with a political organisation, or one that promotes govermental propoganda above jehovahs own word and message.
(the watchtower 91 issues sent to you via email)".

Let this wake-up call cause you to recognize the indoctrinated and brainwashed state every JW finds themselves in, including you. Use the opportunity to re-evaluate ALL of your Pavlonian preconditioned responses (yes, like your instant mental blocks that got erected when you started reading this sentence) and start questioning the mystical premise/work of fiction, this whole charade is built on, the Bible. Keep researching.
I believe you to be one of the sincere ones. You could be free. -

I am tickled by a debate on a work of fiction, trying to explain its veracity. Are you still hanging onto the troof?

Thanks EF. That is how we learn - at least those who care to learn. I am interested in your source for the survival or the presence in deceased hosts please. So far, I have not found ANY evidence that those who die of Aids have a live HIV virus to show for it. If I do, I will have to reconsider my trepidation.
Based on your posts here and everywhere else, we would get along famously. You do think outside the box! Thank you. -

WG - thank you so much for contributing. I want to find and read your references and may have some questions afterwards. It is fantastic that you can refer us to what you really know, as opposed to some on here who have no constructive input, only criticism. All they know is how to tear down.
In business, you have those who pose the problem along with the solution; those that recognize there is a problem and ask for answers; and those who neither recognize a problem and lambaste those who do. In fact, that has just given me an idea for the next thread!
Thanks WG
